Australian Federal Election will be 24 November 2007

The Prime Minister announced on 14 October that the Federal Election will be on Saturday 24 November 2007. Check your enrolment details with the AEC NOW.
If you are outside Australia and not on the electoral roll and you qualify to enrol from abroad, and you want to vote in this election, you must complete an enrolment form and return it to the AEC by 8pm Australian time Wednesday 17 October 2007.
If you are already on the roll but need to update your address details, you must do this by 8pm Australian time Tuesday 23 October 2007.
If overseas on polling day, you can vote in person at an overseas polling place BEFORE the date of the election, or you can do a postal vote. Most but not all overseas Australian missions (Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates) are overseas polling places, but check with your local mission for polling station opening hours and dates. If you want to vote by post, you will need to apply for a postal vote now.
You may be one of the estimated half a million overseas adult Australian citizens who can't vote in this election because you are prevented by Commonwealth law from enrolling. If you fall into this category, please let us know at info@southern-cross-group.org

About the Southern Cross Group

The Southern Cross Group is an international non-profit volunteer-run advocacy and support organisation for the Australian diaspora. Since its formation in early 2000, the SCG has established a consistent track record of intelligent and timely submissions to government on a host of Australian expatriate issues. The Group is best known for its work in reforming Australian citizenship law. It has also been active on the issue of expatriate disenfranchisement in the Australian electoral process, and was the driving force behind the establishment of a broad-based dedicated Australian Senate Committee Inquiry into Australian expatriates held in 2003-2005.

The SCG has no paid staff and is funded by donations which go towards offsetting overheads such as software licensing fees, web hosting costs, postage, stationery, and communications expenses. Please help the SCG by making a donation.
